Spotted...

Subtle and pretty details are dominating my love list right now...like this lovely photo from Jamie Beck, the elegance of Celine bags, simple, romantic details on stationery, and this adorable "flock of birds" coat hanger.

Want: Modern Vintage Florals

I'm frequently impressed by the preponderance of pretty but affordable home goods available at Urban Outfitters. Right now, I'm absolutely loving these "modern vintage" floral prints popping up all over the site. Even though I have nowhere to put it, I'm dying to get the small faded floral rug at the bottom for just $18.

American Woman

It's official -- I'm back in the USA. And while I'm already missing the romance of Paris, I'm am definitely ready to repatriate myself with an all-american weekend on the beach in Cape May.

Right now, I'm loving these adorable, patriotic dresses from Urban Outfitters. Can't you just picture yourself in them, the sound of crashing waves in the background, the smokey smell of a grill, a sparkler in one hand?

One word of warning -- if you're larger on top, or really, have anything at all on top, do order a size up in the dress above -- they are not fooling around with the bodice on that one! Meanwhile, I found that the dress below appears much more fitted on me than it does on the model.

Cute Rugs from Urban Outfitters

I am one of the biggest defenders of Urban Outfitters. I am constantly impressed by how far they have come from strictly dorm-room decor, and I constantly find the store stocked with fun, cheap and stylish products, like these affordable but fun rugs. Love the bold graphics, vibrant florals and witty designs...and with prices ranging from $18-68, what's not to love? Buy here.

Giveaway! Downtown Chic from Sixx Design

Ed Note: This Giveaway has concluded. Winner announced here!

I'm so excited to announce my blog's first giveaway, courtesy of Robert and Cortney Novogratz of Sixx Design. Robert and Cortney first came on my radar when their lovely country home was featured in the Nov. 2008 issue of O at Home.

Happy and stylish, it's the kind of place that exudes pure joy -- and seems like the perfect place for their seven, yes, seven kids' creativity to flourish. Having learned more about their back story (self-taught developers who take on rundown buildings and transform them into one-of-a-kind gems) my admiration has grown to full-fledged design crush. It's clear they don't approach design with kid gloves, rather they jump into each project with a sense of adventure and enthusiasm.

Robert and Cortney recently released their first book Downtown Chic which is seriously a must-read for new homeowners, those thinking about renovating and those seeking homes that are kid-friendly without compromising grown-up style.

Trust me, this isn't the kind of book you buy just so it can collect dust on your coffee table. It contains tons of inventive tips, even for those on a budget, and inspiring photos that actually explain how they pulled the look off.

You can purchase Downtown Chic here, but even better, you can win a copy by leaving a comment about your toughest design challenge or best design tip below, or by tweeting about the contest on Twitter (reference my twitter name @JennL at the end of your tweet so I don't miss it!) I'll randomly select a winner next Friday and will ship it out (hopefully in time for Christmas). Can't wait to read all of your comments. Trust me, you'll want to win this one! Finally, look out for the family on a new Bravo show launching in early 2010.

(Full disclosure, Sixx Design provided me with one copy of Downtown Chic for review, and one for giveaway.)

Great quotes like this one from Jean Cocteau are sprinkled throughout the book.
Loved this vanity packed with statues of goddesses.

Love: Silence and Noise

Not gonna lie -- once Urban Outfitters began selling fare as sophisticated as Pope on a Rope soap, I decided I should probably take my faux-hipster shopping to other, less kitschy retailers lest I look like an overly excited, fresh from the strip mall NYU freshman.

However, I ventured into the store yesterday and was SO surprised by how great their current offerings are. My favorite pieces came from a brand called Silence and Noise ( I bought the dress featured on the bottom right and the blazer in the top middle). I was so impressed by the fit and attention to detail for the price. All of the items seen here are under $80. The must have piece is absolutely the boyfriend blazer -- pair it with leggings and a miniskirt and you have a perfect cold weather uniform for the office and the weekend.
