Quick Hostess Gifts + Giveaway Winners

Where has the day gone!? I am still not packed for my 6 am{thank you Mr. Frugal Sabbe} flight and I have to be out the door in an hour for my student's final presentations.

First up, here is a quick hostess gift I put together for some ladies who are throwing Baby Sabbe a party this Sunday. We actually have two showers this weekend in Tennessee! We feel very blessed. I can't wait to get to the sweet, sweet South.
Cookies in a jar! Here is the recipe. My jars were too small so I had to add a little nut and berry bag on the side. But I think it worked out ok.

And the giveaway winners are...

Susan- Handbag {I NEED YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS}
Peg Mayor- Ornaments
Liz Crowny- Stationary
Carlee- 1 yard of fabric

If you did not include your email in your comment, make sure to get that to me.
I will contact each of you shortly.

Thanks to everyone who entered. Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Giveaway: Handbag Made By Yours Truly

I get a lot of emails, mainly from sweet friends at home, to see if I still make bags for the etsy shop I opened once upon a time ago. Sadly, since going out on my own last June, my crafting afternoons have been few and far in between. So for this last giveaway I thought it would be fun to sit down and make a bag. I'm also teaching a class this Saturday and I thought I could use a refresher. Two birds, one stone.
This last giveaway is open to SabbeSpot subscribers only, just let me know how you subscribe in your comment below. Any reader format is fine.
Winners for all of the giveaways will be announced December 16th. Don't forget to check out the other great holiday giveaways.
And thank you again for reading along!

Giveaway: Ornament Sets from FilzFelt

Today's giveaway is sponsored by another local Boston company, FilzFelt, which was founded by two felt-loving designers, Kelly Smith and Traci Roloff. The name FilzFelt is a combination of the German word for felt (filz) and the English (felt). I met Traci last year at an industry party and then ran into the team again at last year's ICFF show. Their products are amazing.

One of my most favorite things FilzFelt offers is their ornament sets.

Adorable right?

This giveaway is for 5 sets (2 ornaments per set), your choice!
Make sure to check out their website and Facebook page.

This giveaway is open to everyone. Leave a comment below.
A winner will be selected December 16th.

Giveaway: Yee-Haw Notecards from Juniper Berry

Today's giveaway is sponsored by a very talented designer who resides in my hometown, Nashville! I purchased the Yee-Haw print from Jenni's shop last year for friend of ours who moved from Tennessee to Texas. We all loved it. This year Jenni is offering a set of Yee-Haw notecards to a SabbeSpot reader! I think this would make an awesome holiday gift. There are few better sayings in the world than yee haw.
From the designer: A 19th-century map of Texas defines the silhouette of a rearing cowboy, yelling "Yee-Haw!." This design was a suggestion of a customer from Texas, and I was happy to oblige!

Each handprinted card is one-of-a-kind, resulting in a unique array of colorful effects. Printed on cream deckle-edge 7" x 5" 100% cotton cardstock with matching envelopes. Packaged as a set of four, tied with ribbon and a hangtag.

Find Jenni on twitter and make sure to visit Juniper Berry. During the month of December, mention SabbeSpot during checkout and receive free shipping!

To enter, leave a comment below. This giveaway is open to everyone!

Giveaway: Fabric from Grey's Fabric and Notions

This first holiday giveaway is from Grey's Fabric and Notions for one yard of fabric in their shop: lawn, quilting weight, or home decor weight- your choice!
Grey's has all the good stuff and is conveniently located in the heart of Boston's South End
at 450 Harrison Ave, #63.
There are so many projects you can do with a yard of fabric. I think a stack of a couple great patterns would make such a great gift.

**This giveaway is open to Boston area residents only (must be able to visit the shop to pick out your fabric). Winners for all giveaways will be announced Wednesday December 15th.**

To enter, visit the Grey's Fabic and Notions Facebook page and leave a comment below on what sewing pattern or project you would most like to see them offer as a class. Oh yes, they offer classes as well! Was there not someone begging for something just like this in the South End a little over a year ago? So exciting!

Thank you Grey's for helping us kick off this Holiday Gift Showcase and Giveaway Series.

A Little Bit Bollywood Giveaway!

We are back from the beach and it is good to be home! Today I have another fun giveaway from the folks over at CSN. They literally have a million things to choose from, whether you are looking for anything from a vanity to a vase, but today we're giving away a pillow!

India has been making a big splash in the American mainstream over the past couple of years. We see it in music, film, fashion, and all types of design, from graphics to interiors.  I was actually in one of my favorite Indian take out places, here in Boston, a couple of months ago and spied an India Elle Decor on the counter. Everything was gorgeous! I didn't realize there were different issues for different countries.

On a side note, I am totally infatuated with all things Bollywood. My friend Sheetal can attest to that. I have already discussed with her what I plan on wearing to her wedding, and she is not even engaged. Mr. Sabbe has a handful of good guy friends from med school who will also have traditional Indian weddings one day, and I have told them all that I plan to perform some sort of pre-choreographed dance routine as a part of my wedding gift to them. Henna... fun jewelry.... and miles and miles of Indian food... can one of you please get married already!!?

Today I am featuring three Koko Company Pillows from CSN's AllModern.com,  to give you all the opportunity to work a little Bollywood into your home.

I love them all! To enter just tell me which of the three you would pick.
Also let me know if you subscribe and I will enter you twice.
I will randomly pick a name next Tuesday the 6th. Good Luck!

That's a HUGE Bag Giveaway

Ya'll remember this bag I made a few weeks ago?
Well, I have yet to carry it anywhere. And because bloggers are such givers, I want to give this bag away.
It's a good bag. You could probably carry a small child in it (but please don't)
Just leave a comment to enter. If you follow the blog, blog about the giveaway, tweet, facebook etc. Just write a number on your ONE comment and I'll enter you that many times. I'll pick a winner Tuesday the 26th.

I don't tweet, but did you guys see last week's Office episode?  Kelly's comment about "Of course I'm the leak, I think I tweeted it" made me laugh out loud. That show is the best.

Winna Winna Chicken Dinna

The winner of the $60 gift certificate is Squishe! Thanks to everyone for entering. It's fun to give stuff away from other people. It makes you feel a bit like Oprah.

On a completely unrelated note, look who I ran into at ICFF!
Not my best photo. I went to NYC without my entire makeup bag, who does that? Thank God for Sephora and the ability to put on free mascara on the run.

Eddie and Jaithan were super sweet and filled me in on some of their up coming projects. We also talked a little blogs. It was nice to meet you guys!

More on ICFF and NY to come!

A Giveaway

I never cease to be amazed by the blogging community. I raised almost $300 dollars yesterday towards the reconstruction of my mom's house thanks to my terrific, amazing blog friends. And in the spirit of giving, CSN has asked me to host a $60 gift certificate giveaway that can be used  in any of their 200 online stores. Here are a few things I would pick.

They have an amazing selection of lighting. Remember the Tolomeo lamp from the Brad Ford project I posted? They have it. Free shipping, and you can get if for $60 dollars off!

And I wish I were giving away some modern classics. But since I'm not, how about modern classics on a pillow? These are all less than $60, so you could basically pick one for free.
And I am loving this Kartell Charles Ghost Stool. Wouldn't it be cute pulled up to a makeup vanity?
And for the modern baby...Kartell Lou Lou Ghost Chair! ridiculous, but cute
To enter, leave a comment. If you "follow" the blog, let me know and I'll enter you twice.
I'll pick a winner next Wednesday, the 19th. Good Luck!

Downtown Chic Giveaway Winner!

Well, folks, it's time to find out who won a copy of Downtown Chic from Sixx Design...and the winner chosen at random is...Deb from Dumbwit Tellher!! Deb -- send your address to JLore885 AT gmail DOT com, and I'll get this shipped out to you ASAP. For those of you who didn't win, you can purchase Downtown Chic here -- it's wonderful and would make a great gift for any design lover.

P.S. I loved reading all of your awesome design tips and empathized with your toughest challenges. I think my favorite element of design is the tremendous creativity we all are capable of when confronted with a challenge. Some of the best rooms out there are a direct result of a kitchen that is too small, a ceiling that's too high, or that awkward door that ruins your furniture plan.

I'm about to batten down the hatches for DC's version of Snowpocalypse Now (which is caused by the slightest chance of over a foot of snow -- New Englanders and Midwesterners try not to laugh.)

While some fellow DC-ers are taking this news as a sign they need to stockpile canned goods like its 1999 (y2k anyone?) I can't think of anything better to get me stoked for Christmas.

Happy Weekend, y'all! (Pictures via the awesome, hunger-inspiring blog I Need A Cupcake)

Giveaway! Downtown Chic from Sixx Design

Ed Note: This Giveaway has concluded. Winner announced here!

I'm so excited to announce my blog's first giveaway, courtesy of Robert and Cortney Novogratz of Sixx Design. Robert and Cortney first came on my radar when their lovely country home was featured in the Nov. 2008 issue of O at Home.

Happy and stylish, it's the kind of place that exudes pure joy -- and seems like the perfect place for their seven, yes, seven kids' creativity to flourish. Having learned more about their back story (self-taught developers who take on rundown buildings and transform them into one-of-a-kind gems) my admiration has grown to full-fledged design crush. It's clear they don't approach design with kid gloves, rather they jump into each project with a sense of adventure and enthusiasm.

Robert and Cortney recently released their first book Downtown Chic which is seriously a must-read for new homeowners, those thinking about renovating and those seeking homes that are kid-friendly without compromising grown-up style.

Trust me, this isn't the kind of book you buy just so it can collect dust on your coffee table. It contains tons of inventive tips, even for those on a budget, and inspiring photos that actually explain how they pulled the look off.

You can purchase Downtown Chic here, but even better, you can win a copy by leaving a comment about your toughest design challenge or best design tip below, or by tweeting about the contest on Twitter (reference my twitter name @JennL at the end of your tweet so I don't miss it!) I'll randomly select a winner next Friday and will ship it out (hopefully in time for Christmas). Can't wait to read all of your comments. Trust me, you'll want to win this one! Finally, look out for the family on a new Bravo show launching in early 2010.

(Full disclosure, Sixx Design provided me with one copy of Downtown Chic for review, and one for giveaway.)

Great quotes like this one from Jean Cocteau are sprinkled throughout the book.
Loved this vanity packed with statues of goddesses.
