'Lost at Sea' Fiber Arts show in NYC

If you are in New York right now, I highly recommend heading over to Gallery Hanahou to check out the fiber arts "Lost at Sea" show, where the work of some of my favorite fiber artists (including Jessica Marquez of Miniature Rhino, Knitalatte and Lou Lou and Oscar) is on display.

While all of these are beyond gorgeous, I am obsessed with the pieces from Miniature Rhino, which were inspired by sailors' use of the night sky as a guide. The sampler has two layers -- the bottom piece features the constellations, and spins to match a real night sky. So brilliant. You can learn more about the inspiration behind the pieces here.

Some of the amazing pieces below.

Adorable Mom "Tattoo" Cards from Crooked Sister

Thought these were the perfect antidote to the syrupy, pastel-overload cards most moms get this time of year. Available here.

Artist Spotlight: Hillary Webb

Lately I can't get enough of textile artists, and Hillary Webb is certainly one of the most talented I've seen. I love her very contemporary take on this traditional art form. Each piece is naturally dyed and hand-embroidered. Learn more about Hillary and her work here.

Etsy Fave: Bird and Bear

Do you ever come across something that you love, but you can't fully explain why you love it? That's how I feel about these pretty embroidered linens from Etsy seller Bird and Bear. I love the simple sentiments and the wear and tear on the vintage linens, but there's definitely something else that I can't quite put my finger on.

These pieces are definitely on the pricey side, but seeing as each one is an original hand-embroidered piece of art, I think the prices are fair. Too keep it from being too granny-chic I would probably pin them inside a white shadowbox.

Etsy Fave: La Pomme

I am loving these sweet, embroidered and hand-stamped pillows from Apol Lejano-Massebiau, a Filipino expat now living in the South of France. Many of these "pillows" are actually filled with lavender -- perfect for working on a good night's rest (or just pretending you're the one living in the South of France), and really don't you prefer these peaceful birds to that creepy Lunesta butterfly thing? You can get to know more about Apol here and can purchase her creations here.
