I think you can take the fact that I'm posting about blankets on another 90-degree day as a sign my blanket obsession will reach unparalleled heights this year. Right now, I'm loving this cotton blanket from Brook Farm General Store for the summer/fall transition. (Senovinis means "immemorial" or "old-fashioned" in Lithiania, where the blankets are made).

Retail Love: Brook Farm General Store

Do you guys remember Oregon Trail? You know, the dorky educational computer game that was super popular in the nineties?

Basically, the point of the game was to transport your little computer family of pioneers West to claim manifest destiny with minimal calamity. Of course, half the time your wagon sank while fording the river, your brother died of dysentery and your oxen drowned. It was such a great game.

....anywhoooo, in my opinion, the best part of the game was the trip to the general store at the beginning where you would stock up on all sorts of essentials for your trip. Ever since then, the very concept of a "general store" has captured my imagination.

I've just always loved the idea of a shop where you could purchase lots of no-nonsense, well-made essentials for the home. My favorite 2010 version of this is Brook Farm General Store (based out of Brooklyn).

While on the pricey side, I love how all of their items feel so timeless and elegant in their simplicity. I picked up a few of the items below over the weekend, including the tool bag, Savon de Marseille, carafe and hamper.
