A Peek Inside Emma Cassi's Studio

I've written about my love of Emma Cassi's styling and jewelry before, so I'm so thrilled that Anthropologie has decided to carry some of her pieces in stores. Anthro was also kind enough to share a peek inside her studio with their Facebook fans. So gorgeous.

I wasn't really into most of the interiors in the September Anthropologie catalog -- just wasn't my style -- but this particular image jumped out at me.

Yes, the picture shown would be fundamentally impractical for real life, but I think a bathroom with a little old-world charm, mismatched colorful textiles and tons of flea market paintings and tiny potted succulents could be really fun (and doesn't require a full bathroom remodel).

I hate posting something so similar less than a week apart, but if there's one thing I feel unnaturally compelled to post immediately upon seeing it -- it's a bed nook.

I've wanted one all my life -- something about feeling protected and tucked away that would make going to bed so lovely. Love, love, love.

Olaf Hajek and a Defense of Anthropologie

Sometimes I feel guilty about loving Anthropologie so much. A lot of people have issues with the politics of the CEO, with the very fact that it is a big chain store, with the preciousness of the products...but y'know what...those criticisms don't really outweigh the benefits in my opinion.

I'm consistently impressed with Anthro's efforts to work with artists to commission pieces instead of just ripping them off. And for those of us who don't live in big cities, Anthro is probably a sanity-saving oasis of lovely in a local mall otherwise filled with crap. In short, Anthro brings genuinely beautiful things to the masses, and I'm hard-pressed to find anything wrong with that.

For instance, if it wasn't for Anthro, I'm not sure if I ever would have discovered the amazing work of Olaf Hajek whose book Flowerhead recently landed in stores. So amazing.

P.S. I just couldn't resist his volcano picture below. If only the one in Iceland was shooting flowers and butterflies!

The Big Top: Anthropologie February Catalog

Have you guys received the latest Anthropologie Catalog? I just got it today and I am loving the traveling circus theme. I actually wish more fashion magazines would follow this cue -- Fewer jumping models, blank stares and model as wax figure shoots. More pretty clothes, happy people and fun set design.

Shiny Object Syndrome

If you've been reading for a little while, I'm sure you've noticed I write about Anthro....a lot. It's almost embarrassing, I really should be getting paid by them (note to anthro: I will work for decorative tableware). I'm not sure whether or not they have a little factory of mind-reading elves working there, but somehow they manage to constantly churn out a ridiculous number of offerings that keep my bank account on life support.

Case in point: These fantastic, glittery baubles they are promoting for the holiday party circuit. I just have to get my hands on (ring finger in) that adorable octopus ring! All pictured jewelry available here.
