Found Things....fast

I love creating spaces with found things. I believe good interiors are curated, like a museum. One day in a big box store or even a high end retailer just won't do it. To make something unique, or one of a kind, takes time. But sometimes in the real world, time is not on your side. Sometimes clients come to you with a party scheduled at the end of the month and "it just needs to get done." One of my favorite found things stores in Boston is Mohr and McPherson. They do a great job of curating their pieces. No two things are alike.
I love this x-base table.
This sofa was on sale last week and if we had just a couple more square feet, it would have come to live with us. Mr. Sabbe loves some chesterfield sofas, as does his wife.
They work with the trade, but also sell directly to the public. If you are in the South End you should check them out.

After the Snow Comes the Sun

"Man this door is frozen solid" [knocks door violently after scraping]
[5 minutes later] "It would help if it were unlocked."
Is there anything more beautiful than a sunny day after a fresh snow?

Is there anything more fantastic than having your awesome husband dig your car out while you wait inside?

Snowbird Report

Does Snowbird bring back fond memories for any other Southerners? I loved that bird.
This is what it looks like outside my front door this morning.
And it's still coming. I love it, I really do. And that lady in red in the first shot makes me realize how much I really do love working from home. Unfortunately Mr. Sabbe does not work from home. As I sit in our warm apartment, drinking coffee, I've been looking outside my office window every couple of minutes to see if he's trudging his way home. He walks to work. But the thing is, he left for work yesterday morning at 5:30 am for a 30 hours shift and I'm pretty sure he did not know a blizzard was scheduled. i.e. no snow gear. bless his heart (that's southern too)

Instead of sitting here kicking myself for not going to the grocery store yesterday, I wish I were in Stowe. This storm should make for some excellent ski conditions. If I won the HGTV dream home I would take you all with me.
You would take me too, right?

Bobby from Boston

Sunday afternoon Mr. Sabbe and I decided to take a little afternoon adventure back to our old neighborhood, the best neighborhood in Boston, the South End. If I had my pick, I would live on the sunny side of Union Park.
Right next to our favorite coffee shop.
While we were out we walked over to the art studios on Harrison and came upon a new shop, at least new to us, Bobby from Boston. We fell in love.
It was voted one of the Best Men's clothing stores in the country by Esquire magazine. It was like stepping into another world. It actually made me want to incorporate some vintage pieces into my little guy's nursery and wardrobe. How stinkin' adorable is this cowboy outfit? If you visit Boston, you must visit Bobby.

Salem

Halloween weekend we caught a train to Salem.
Mr. Sabbe was Mr. Sabbe. I was a pregnant witch.
There were some funny costumes.
And there were some scary costumes.
Some scarier costumes.
And the scariest costume.
The town itself is adorable.

I found a place to send Mr. Sabbe in a couple of years.
There was even a fair.
It was the perfect day trip. Can't wait to go back next year!
