Lately I've been flipping through the French cooking bible, I Know How to Cook (Je Sais Cuisiner) by Ginette Mathiot, originally published in 1932. While I find some of the recipes, a little dated for my taste (ok, ok, I admit, I'm just intimidated!) this is definitely a timeless guide to French technique.
Now, while I admit I won't be attempting too many of the recipes in here, I'm really loving the photos, which are a very French mix of elegant simplicity and formality. Don't these desserts look lovely?
