Met Home's closing reminded me of my predictions nine months ago. I wrote:
"So, what’s next? I predict a backlash against flash, a fresher, unfussy take on the classics and a focus on craftsmanship and quality."I can't speak for all design-lovers, but I can say that this year has drastically changed my personal style. Where I was once inspired by hyper-designed spaces, expensive art and expansive estates, I'm now finding myself drawn to more spare, honest decor; objects that stand for tradition, history and craftsmanship; and country homes and seaside cottages. Of course, I still need some signature glitz, but its more likely to come from light reflecting off of an antique mirror, sparkling silver and vintage glassware.
I bet a few of you have noticed this transition, and it's been so great to have you all on the ride. In the spirit of sharing, here are a few of the spaces that have been inspiring me lately.

By the way, I can't recommend Jane Flanagan's blogs Fondly Seen and Ill Seen, Ill Said enough -- many of the images here were first seen on those sites. One of my newest blog crushes!
