The Obligatory Lonny Post

So are you guys Lonny'd out yet? I know pretty much every design blogger on the planet will be talking about this issue -- and with good reason -- it's a really, really good one. There was so much to love in this month's issue, from the eco-friendly home tips to a glimpse of West Elm's moodboards.

However, the one feature that really knocked my socks off was a tour of editor-in-chief Michelle Adams' lovely apartment. It was impeccably outfitted and actually seemed like something the average Jane (or wallpaper-loving Joe) could pull off. I loved how many rooms were photographed from different angles so you could see how it all fits together.

I pulled SO many ideas for my 500 square footer. First there was the adorable ostrich wallpaper. As you can see there is a lot going on here, between the gallery wall and the wallpaper, but Adams' smart decision to keep the palate airy keeps the vibe from going too far into granny territory.
I was also a huge fan of Adams' floral headboard -- again another decision that could have easily gone into Golden Girls territory but balanced perfectly with dark walls, a natural rug and pristine white linens.

And then there was the styling...oh, the styling. If you're the type of person who falls in love with the details, brace yourself. There were so, so many lovely ones to choose from here (and throughout the entire issue.) For example, take a look at these brilliant tabletop pairings:

House Tour: Pippa Holt's London Flat

From the accessible glam files, I present the home of London-based stylist Pippa Holt. Holt's home was featured in Australian Vogue Living last year, but I only recently discovered them via The Diversion Project.

I often find that the homes I am most drawn to are the kind that make you want to be friends with the owners -- not overly styled, casual and filled with personal touches. Although the toile bedroom (which I previously posted about) is perfection, I am especially loving the stacks and stacks of magazines everywhere. Makes me feel better about my unruly collection!

Although I'm sure Holt's decor did not come cheap, I truly believe this is a look that can be pulled off no matter where you live or how much money you make. I'm usually not a fan of super white walls, but if you're a renter you might not have a choice. Here, Holt plays the minimal look to her advantage with white upholstery and lucite tables.

I also love how casually Holt displays cherished items (check out the fireplace mantel and the bookshelves) and her fearlessness in pairing mismatched furniture (like the chairs around the dining room table).

Shop With Me: Everything's Coming up Roses...

When I walked out of my apartment this morning, I was thrilled to be greeted with mild temperatures and the faint smell of fresh-cut grass. It reminded me of early spring, when most of the landscape is still muddy brown, there's frost on the ground at sunrise, and the very first pink and red flower buds begin to pop open. With that inspiration in mind, I decided to do a little digging to find some pretty, little items that would remind me of that feeling all year long -- delicate, feminine florals, vintage-inspired frocks, pale and shimmering neutrals and of course, roses everwhere.

Anti-Depressive Decor from Amanda Nisbet

A dreary day like today practically calls for the fun, exuberant and feminine work of designer Amanda Nisbet. Honestly, no matter what the forecast is outside, Nisbet's work must make you feel like its permanently May. While it might be too much for me in large doses, her use of Palm Beach brights, metallics and patterns just makes me happy. Hope it cheers you all up today, too!
