MODERN ARCHITECTURE AUSTRALIA - MARCH CASHMAN KOOLLOOS

where does the old stop and the new begin?
MARCH CASHMAN KOOLLOOS ARCHITECTS projects are excellent examples of beautifully executed transitions between old and new architecture. Their seamless joining of the two creates unexpected & beautiful points of interest. Carefully placed new skylights flood the interior with natural light as they graze old brick walls. Vertical elements extending through to the exterior cleverly play with our perception of space while oversized frameless windows carved out of an old shingle roof play with our perception of where the indoor stops and the outdoor begins. Once again, thank you desire to inspire for sharing the work of this amazing architect.

MARCH CASHMAN KOOLLOOS ARCHITECTS
I came across the work of MARCH CASHMAN KOOLLOOS ARCHITECTS through my friends at DESIRE TO INSPIRE. Midcentury Jo and Kim are 2 talented design enthusiasts who I've been lucky to meet through flickr and blogging. I love the work of MCK Architects for their modern-transitional design sense and their amazing ability of create seamless yet interesting home extensions as shown in many of their home renovations.

MODERN ARCHITECTURE - AUSTRAILIA

IAN MOORE ARCHITECT - residential exterior
IAN MOORE ARCHITECTS
IAN MOORE ARCHITECTS is an Australian based architectural firm whose work represents an excellent example of modern minimalism. I am inspired by the firm's ability to execute a level of restraint while creating interior spaces that are both dramatic yet calm at the same time. Interior details include custom 20' high stacking, aluminum framed sliding doors to flush drywall details and walls composed of over sized aluminum louvers.

MODERN CLASSIC - LOFT LIVING IN AUSTRALIA

CARR DESIGN GROUP - collage 2
LIVABLE MINIMALISM is showcased in this loft interior by the Australian based firm, the CARR DESIGN GROUP. The beauty of minimalist interior details well executed through a combination of frameless glazing with flush drywall & millwork profiles. A colour palette of ebony lacquer and white walls softened by diffused lighting throughout. I love the layering of textured charcoal gray wools with the warmth of black walnut floors. What some may think is a masculine colour scheme - I think this project reflects a timeless interior with a lived in feel by adding the classic wishbone chairs and a beautiful collection of art. - love the volume of space ...

MODERN RESIDENTIAL - AUSTRALIA

Livable mimalism is how I refer to the interior detailing of Australian architecture and interior design firm, the CARR DESIGN GROUP. Their portfolio ranges from high-end corporate and residential interiors to modular residential home plans. I am impressed to see their commitment to provide "affordable modernism" to average home buyers through building systems that are adaptable to both suburban and high density communities. With the increasing cost of living, construction and real estate, we are seeing the design community more involved in working towards innovative solutions for future developments.

MODERN FIREPLACE

The "heart of the home" ... next to the kitchen is the fireplace, a place to gather with family or snuggle with a loved one. Australian manufacturers bring new light on the typical fireplace with new innovative designs. A minimalist at heart, here are a few of my favorites. Simplicity in design - the concept of "less is more". These companies offer the ability to install a zero clearance fireplace where the trim kit is minimally exposed for a clean opening. A modern pre-manufactured firebox that offers a cost effective alternative to the custom made fireplace.
